These adorable baby rompers by MAGPIE GOOSE are not only indigenous designs, but they are printed and made in Australia. Each baby romper tells a story and is a truelly unique piece of "wearable art". This print is called "flying magpie geese" or "murnubbarr karrolka", and was created by Dora Diaguma, a Kuninjku woman from Maningrida, Central West Arnhem Land.
Dora designed Murnubbarr Karrolka (flying magpie geese) in 2003. Murnubbarr (magpie geese) are a waterbird found in abundance in the wetland areas of Kakadu and western Arnhem Land. Murnubbarrare a sustainably hunted and enjoyed manme (bush food). They are known to fly long distances, particularly in the wet season.
