Our collection of patchwork 'over dyed' Turkish rugs are timeless pieces of functional art which we carefully select in Istanbul. In recent years a new trend has emerged in the rug industry in Turkey whereby aged carpets have been given a new lease of life by over dying them. First of all they are sheared, to even out the pile and help distress them. They are then dyed a number of times to create a modern asthetic giving vitality back to the rug, whilst retaining the original design. This rug is recycling at its best as it is made up of many rugs that have been cut to the desired size and patched together. All our rugs are vintage, (produced between 1920-1970) and therefore each one has a rich history and a story to tell.
This rug has been handknotted from wool and cotton and measures 1.8m x 1.17m
